LA Bride Get New Shop

On Saturday 18th February 2012 Southend Carnival Court opened LA Brides new shop in Shoeburyness, The Dress maker, who has created the Carnival Courts dresses for the last few years has moved to the new premises from Southchurch road. Queen Charlotte Said "It was great to be asked to open Alison's new shop, she has given us some nice dresses so it was a honour to cut the ribbon"

 

 

 

 

 

 

3rd December 2011

Christmas Time Christmas has well and truly begun for Southend Carnival , Queen Charlotte and her princesses Harley and Tanya joined in the Christmas Fun at Leigh and Maldon Christmas Parades ,

 

Firstly on Friday 25th November Leigh turned on their Christmas Lights with a parade down the Broadway , the Crowds flocked to see the festive fun go past,

 

On 3rd December the crowds were once again out in force to see the Christmas lights in Maldon turned on. The Courts float winning Best float in Procession , an evening Disco rounded off a good week for the court with Charlotte winning Third Place Miss Personality Contest

Remembrance Day

Queen Charlotte joined Councillors, Dignities and other groups to lay a wreath of poppies at the cenotaph on remembrance Sunday, Queen Charlotte Said " its an honour to lay this wreath in support of our fallen Soldiers"

Tanya gets Second at Witham

The Court attended Witham Carnivals Presentation evening on Friday 4th November, The girls had a good time and joined in the Dancing and watched Witham Carnival give away their funds raised for the year, A Princess Competition was also held and Tanya received second prize , a big well done to Tanya

Guild Court Selection Night

Saturday 15th October saw the selection of the new Guild Court , Southend Carnival Court including retiring Guild Queen Georgina were in attendance, Princess Tanya entered the competition and despite not being selected a good time was had by all , Georgina will be continuing in the guild court as the Deputy Queen,

Summer Season ends at Burnham

The summer season of parades ended in fine style at Burnham Carnival on Saturday 24th September, The excellent illuminated parade was watched by thousands of people. The Court had a great time dancing on the float and enjoying the evening. Queen Charlotte Said " its been a great summer starting at Basildon in June and finishing here tonight , I've had a great time"

Last Wickford Carnival?

The Court attended what could be the last ever Wickford carnival on Saturday 17th September, The sun shined on the parade and fete as the floats wound their way through the streets , The day was rounded of with a tea and disco , Here's hoping that someone comes forward to help organise this well established and popular carnival.

Church fete in Eastwood

The Court attended Eastwood Baptist Church "Party in the park". Queen Charlotte  opened proceedings with a few words. They then toured the stalls having a go on some of the games. They also had a go at "Zumba" which was very energetic

Ashingdon Carnival

The Carnival Court attended Ashingdon carnival on Saturday 3rd September 2011  They had a good time and the weather was lovely. We would like to thank Stanford & Corringham Carnival for their help once again after a small problem with our towing vehicle.

Carnival Week Review

Another Carnival week has come and gone with the court attending events across town as well as visiting locals businesses who support us ,

 

After the Fair opening on Friday 12th August the court spent the week around Southend, Starting in the high street on Saturday 13th followed by a meal at Tomassi's restaurant, Queen Charlotte said " it was a really nice meal thank you so much to Tomassi's for their generosity"

 

The dog show was held on Sunday 14th for our canine friends, Followed on Monday 15th by a speial morning at the carnival fair for Disabled and special needs children to enjoy the rides

 

The children's events took centre stage on Tuesday and Wednesday 16th and 17th , With Madison and Oliver taking the Junior Princess and Prince titles,

 

The Pair then helped with the Teddy Bears Picnic and Children's Fancy Dress competitions  

 

 

Visits to Nazareth House and a meal a Wimpy followed before the Main Procession on Saturday 20th August

 

Following a meal at the Civic Centre the Carnival Court were joined by their fellow courts from across Essex on a bus to the sea front to join the rest of the floats in the procession

Court officially open Fair

Carnival week officially began on Friday 12th August with the official opening of the Carnival Fair at Chalkwell Park , Queen Charlotte and Princesses Harley and Tanya were joined by Mayor David Norman, Youth Mayor Jake Inwood, MP for Southend West David Amess and Representatives of main sponsor Summercare for the ceremony. Following this the Court had their afternoon at the fair and enjoyed all the rides

 

The fair is open Daily from 2pm until Saturday 20th August Please Come along

Court Visit RNLI

The Southend Carnival Court paid a visit to the Southend RNLI Hovercraft Station on Sunday 7th August , The RNLI is one of this years chosen charities and Queen Charlotte fresh from her holiday and Princesses Harley and Tanya were shown round the vessel and chatted to the crew about the roles, Look out for the RNLI in this years Procession For more photos of the visit Click Here

Court of the Day at Maldon

Continuing the 2011 Season of Carnival, The Southend Carnival Court  Deputy Queen Georgina and Princesses Harley and Tanya visited Maldon for their annual Parade, Despite overcast weather the crowds came to see the carnival and the Girls had a really good time. At the afternoon tea it was announced that they had won Court of the Day Deputy Queen Georgina Said " we've had another good day out and I'm proud to win another prize for the court" Thanks go once again to Georgina for stepping in during Queen Charlottes Holiday

Taxi Drivers outing to Clacton

For the first time in three years the Southend Taxi Drivers fund for underprivileged children visited Clacton, As in previous years they were joined By the 2011 Southend Carnival Court , Princesses Tanya and Harley were joined by our Deputy Queen Georgina who was kindly stepping into Charlottes shoes whilst she was on a well deserved holiday. Also attending was the Ashingdon Deputy Queen 

 

The long day started at 8am at Roots Hall welcoming the children and greeting the taxi drivers before heading in convoy to Clacton where a meeting was arranged with the Clacton Carnival Court for a meal at the local Wimpy. After Lunch the girls joined the children on Clacton Pier enjoying the rides available,

 

In the afternoon there was a disco and buffet meal for the children and the courts helped with the dancing before heading for home , Georgina Said" I've been happy to help out today its been good to meet the Clacton Court myself , Harley and Tanya had a good time, Last year we had a day in Southend, so it was nice to bring the children to somewhere new,"

 

Tanya and Harley added " A big thank you to Georgina for coming along today , we've had excellent time"

Fancy Dress at Southend Library

Southend Carnival Princesses Harley and Tanya were proud to judge a Fancy Dress Competition at Southend Library on Saturday 23rd July, They chatted to the children and presented the prizes to the winners who were Mhutashim Jaseena & Sadiah Anisah.

Another Busy Day for Court

The Carnival Court had another busy day on Saturday 16th July, They first braved the heavy rain to help collect money for Southend Hospital at a mile of coins in Southend high street, Despite the dreadful weather conditions the court enjoyed their time raising funds for the Heart and Chest Unit V Scan appeal

 

The afternoon was then spent at the Avenue Baptist Church fun day, Held indoors due to the appalling downpour, Queen Charlotte and Princesses Harley and Tanya toured the stalls and exhibits at the fete, Having an excellent time

Prizes Keep Coming at Witham Carnival

The Carnival Court continued their winning ways at Witham Carnival winning second prize in the "Best visiting Queen and Court" class at Witham Carnival , With a large number of visiting courts this was an excellent achievement, The day was blessed with fine weather and the Court enjoyed them selves dancing and waving to the crowds, Queen Charlotte and Princesses Harley and Tanya were joined on their float by the Court from Maldon who also enjoyed the parade ,

London Taxi Drivers Visit

The Carnival Court had an enjoyable afternoon when they met up with the London Taxi Drivers outing for underprivileged children. They met the children on their return from Adventure Island and then joined them for tea and a disco at the Cliffs Pavilion. When the Taxis left the court went to Chalkwell Shelter to wave the children off on their journey home. Queen Charlotte said "It was a fantastic sight over a hundred decorated taxis making their way along the sea front in convoy

Charlotte Scoops London Queen of Queens Title / Another Float Prize

The Carnival Court continued their winning ways at Hornsey Carnival , Firstly by winning joint first for the carnival float. They enjoyed the carnival where they were joined by Guild Queen Georgina who rode in an open top porche.

 

The day was rounded off with a tea and evening dance where Charlotte won the London Queen of Queens Title in a competition against other courts from across the south east. The Evening was spent dancing and having fun finishing the excellent day in style

First Prize at Tiptree

The Carnival Court continued their winning ways at Tiptree Carnival, Taking the prize for "Best Visiting Court". The sun shone on a really good Carnival which wound its way through the streets of Tiptree. Queen Charlotte Said "Its excellent to win another prize but of course that's not what its all about, having a good time and raising money for the charities is more important" The court will continue their tour of Essex so why not check the diary and come along and see them

Harmony Day

Queen Charlotte and Princesses Harley and Tanya attended the community in Harmony Southend day. They had a great time joining the official opening party and having afternoon tea with the Mayor and other dignitaries. Afterwards they toured all the stalls and marquees containing various attractions.

Court of the day  at Basildon

Southend Carnival Court 2011 attended their first Carnival Parade of the season on Saturday 18th June , Joining in the fun at Basildon Carnival Queen Charlotte and Her Princesses Harley and Tanya were very excited about their inaugural Procession. The day was made even better by winning the "Court of the Day" competition . Charlotte Said "We're Proud to win this prize on our first carnival" The court are pictured here receiving the trophy from Basildon Deputy Queen Sam

Court open church fete at St Mary's

Southend Carnival Court opened the annual St Mary's C of E Church fete on Saturday 11th June , They had a excellent time and went on many of the stalls including , Crazy Kitchen and Coconut shy, Queen Charlotte opened the event with a fantastic speech , " its has been a great event , I've enjoyed meeting all the people here "

Court take Request at Southend Hospital Radio Visit

Following on from their recent visit to Southend Hospital Radio , the Carnival Court paid a return visit . This time they visited many wards in the hospital taking requests and dedications for a show later that evening, they really enjoyed this visit, the patients in the hospital were very pleased to meet the girls , Especially Gladys Cresswell aged 90 on Shopland Ward pictured here

Southend Hospital Radio Visit

The Southend Carnival Court had an interesting evening when they were invited to take part in a show on Hospital Radio. They were interviewed by Denise Simmonett, who was the shows presenter. They answered questions on Carnival including their dresses, engagements carried out so far and future outings. They were very nervous as this was going out live to all of the hospital, but they were excellent and had a great time.

Another Busy Weekend for Court

Saturday and Sunday 14th and 15th May was another busy weekend for the New Carnival Court Queen Charlotte and her Princesses Harley and Tanya , Starting on Saturday 14th with the Maldon Carnival Carnival court selection , They took part in their first Court of court competition and did very well, Dancing the evening away a good time was had by the girls 

 

The following day Queen Charlotte and Princess Tanya attended the Southend taxi Drivers Party, Again they partied with the children and had a good time , Queen Charlotte Said "I've had a great weekend it been really nice meeting lots of new people"

St Margaret's Fete

Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May 2011 was the first engagement of the 2011 Carnival Court, The annual St Margaret's Church Mayday Fair has become a regular feature of the Carnival Courts year and this year the sun shone on another wonderful day ,  The Girls opened the event and enjoyed the stalls and attractions, Queen Charlotte gave an excellent speech to open the event , "this was my first event and have really enjoyed myself" she said
